Anchored by Nature, Driven by People

September 17, 2025

The mountains and forests of Alberta have been my constant source of grounding. But it is the people I’ve met, teammates, mentors, and strangers—that have defined my journey.

Nature as a Teacher

Growing up near the Rockies, I found peace in the outdoors. Volunteering as a zoo guide, I met people from around the world who deepened my appreciation for conservation. A grandmother from India once showed me how pollution had changed her homeland. That conversation made me realize how privileged I am to live in Canada and how important sustainability must be in my life’s work.

Mentorship Through Sport

Water polo gave me both medals and lessons. Beyond national tournaments, the most rewarding moments came from coaching youth athletes, watching nervous kids evolve into confident players. Mentorship became a value I now carry everywhere, from the pool to the lab.

Resilience Through Research

When my grandfather suffered from a superbug infection, it sparked my research into antimicrobial resistance. Working in biomedical engineering, I found purpose in using science to solve human problems, blending technical curiosity with empathy for the people behind the data.

Conclusion

Who I am can be summed up simply: nature grounds me, people inspire me, and resilience drives me. Everything I pursue is an extension of those values.
